Regarding Mr. Mark Earp and his Tree Cycle Group
I am the official photographer of the Old Colwyn Environment
Federation which voluntarily works to improve the environment of Old Colwyn. I
also take photographs for other environmental groups to record and help publicise
various events that are held to encourage and involve groups of people in
environmental work. It is through this work that I have come to know Mr Mark Earp who has helped greatly on a number of environmental schemes within Conwy.
Mark is a consummate organiser and is passionate about trees, wildlife, plants, shrubs and the environment. He is always very ready to help with advice and volunteer services in this way.
He also has another string to his bow; that of chainsaw carver and in this respect he cooperates with other people that have a passion for this sort of artwork. Not only is he very good at producing chainsaw art he is also great at organising other similar artists to attend events.
One of the aspects of Mark Earp’s character which I value is that if he says that he will do something, he delivers beyond that which is expected.
I work with a small group of people who do voluntary work at St John’s Church Wildlife Garden,
Old Colwyn. Mark has donated wood carvings to be displayed in the garden, they are used to create habitat.
We held a Wildlife Gardening Open-day on 19th September 2009 to which we invited groups such as RSPCA, Bat Conservation Trust, Butterfly Conservation and the North Wales Wildlife Trust. Mark was invited to do a display of chainsaw carving which he did throughout the day. It was a tremendous draw of interest and valuable to our day which was a great success. There is a report of the Wildlife day at the following web link http://www.oldcolwyneast.co.uk/page113a.html.
Another very important aspect of Mark’s character, like
other members of Tree Cycle, is that he is professional, proud of his work and
likes to talk about it to interested observers.
I have been involved in a large number of events now where
Mark has been the organiser and they have been great success stories. Chainsaw carving is usually in evidence, if not by Mark himself then at least one other artist. It is always popular, as are the other wood featured skills that are showcased by Tree Cycle members.
I have film evidence of work organised and participated in by Mark. If you wish you may call me and I would be only too happy to evidence my high regard for him.
Yours sincerely
David Curtis

To whom it may concrn
North Wales Tree Cycle Group is a group of talented individuals with green credentials.
Together, the group organised by Mark Earp create a ready made attraction capable of entertaining family and special interest groups. With skills
ranging from tree carving, to hand crafted furniture, wood splitting and whittling, wooden flowers, jewellery making, willow weaving, wildlife information/games plus the parading of hawks and owls by knowledgeable and costumed handlers, the group provide a colourful and animated spectacle.
I have contracted Tree Cycle for a number of events. They are organised, have the relevant insurances, risk assessments, CRB accreditations and are able to tailor their structure to meet the needs of the event. They have the ability to call on a number of skilled crafts people to meet the required size of organisers.
All the individuals are able to talk knowledgably about their craft and to tailor their talks to match their audience.
The Tree Cycle Group has proven to be a popular attraction with people of all ages.
I will continue to use them in the future.
Yours faithfully
Ingrid Lewis
